Australia is a great place to work. It ranks in the top countries in the world in terms of income and disposable income. The Australian government offers a range of short and long term working visas each with its different rights and benefits. The rights and benefits of the visa holder are different to that of a temporary or permanent visa holder.

Working holiday visas are for young people who wish to work in Australia for up to a year in Australia. This visa is available to applicants between the ages of 18-31 who are passport holders of specific countries. A working holiday visa holder is restricted to certain types of work for a certain period of time. For more information see working holiday visa in Australia click here.

Long term working visas allow the applicant and his/her family to reside and work in a country for up to four years. In most instances, this visa can be renewed for a further four years. This visa is provided on the basis that the applicant will be employed in his profession by a specific employer (the terms and conditions of employment are usually specified in a signed employment agreement between the employer and the applicant). In most cases, the employer is required to "sponsor" the employee.

It is important to note that many professions require the holder of a work visa to obtain the requisite professional license to enable the applicant to work in that occupation.
