Lottery visas are available among countries that have lower immigration rates to the USA. Israel is a country that participates in the lottery visas. In addition to being born in a qualifying country, the lottery visa applicant must have a high school education or its equivalent, or within the past 5 years have two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience.
Currently, individuals born in the following countries are not able to submit an application for a visa by lottery: China (mainland), Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Pakistan, South Korea, Vietnam, India, the Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except for Northern Ireland), Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, El Salvador, Columbia, and the Dominican Republic.
The lottery makes available a maximum of 50,000 immigrant visas annually.
Successful candidates are chosen at random.
