Under Tier 1 migration there are 3 options:
1) Exceptional Talent Visa
2) Entrepreneur Visa
3) Investor Visa
1) Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa
Tier 1 (Exceptional talent) is for people who are internationally recognised as world leaders or potential world-leading talent in the fields of science and the arts, and who wish to work in the UK. In order to begin your application in this field you must be endorsed by a designated competent body, either the Royal Society, the Arts Council England, the British Academy, or the Royal Academy of Engineering.
2) Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa
This visa enables you to immigrate to the UK, establish a business, and work in the UK either as salaried worker or self employed of a period of three years. The visa can be extended for a further two (2) years after which you can apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK and later naturalization as a British citizen.
To be eligible for this visa you must score minimum of 95 points and meet all the requirements of the Immigration Rules.
The attributes from which points are derived comprise of the following categories:
* Access to funds
* English Language
Access to funds
(i) You must have access to a minimum of £200,000 to be eligible to apply for this visa. You must prove this by providing confirmation from a recognised financial institution. The funds do not have to belong to you alone but can be contributed to by a third party.
If you can prove sufficient fund you will receive 25 points.
(ii) If the funds are held in one or more regulated financial institutions in the UK and you provide proof for this you will receive 25 points.
(iii) These funds must be held in an institution recognized by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), and be freely disposable in the UK. For proving that you have done this you will receive 25 points.
You will receive 10 points for your English language ability you must prove an adequate score on the English Language Testing System (IELTS) test.
If you are from a majority English speaking country or completed a post-secondary school degree in English you may receive the 10 points without completing the IELTS test.
Maintenance funds refers to the amount of money needed to live in the UK during your stay. For proof that adequate funds have been in your account for more than 90 days you will receive 10 points. The amount that you need to show as maintenance funds is 3310 pounds sterling.
Dependents are able to join an applicant who is granted this visa. Dependents are defined as a husband, wife, civil partner, same sex partner and children under 18. Every dependent is required to file a separate visa application as a dependent and the applicant is required to prove that he/she has an amount of 1,890 pounds for every dependent.
Extension of the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa
As stated above, the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Migration Visa is granted for a three (3) year period and can be extended in the UK for a further two (2) years. After a Tier 1 visa holder has been in the UK for a continuous period of five years (except for short vacation periods or business trips of no more than three months at a time) he/she can apply for on indefinite leave to remain in England and naturalization.
3) Investor Visa
This Visa allows you to work, live and receive healthcare benefits in the UK and is for applicants with a high-net-worth. To be eligible for this visa you need to be able to invest a minimum of £1,000,000 in the UK.
Additionally, you must have proof of additional funds to be able to support yourself and your dependents during the time in the UK as well as English language proficiency.
